Proximity Paradox

Bringing people together - in times of Corona, this goal seems quite a paradox at first. However, in spite of distance regulations and prohibitions of assembly, we remain social beings and the desire for interpersonal contact is greater than ever. Virologists agree that the risk of infection is very low, when outside and maintaining a distance of 1.5 meters. Based on this insight, I wanted to facilitate such a scenario. The C-skateboard should offer a possibility for all those who want to spend active time together outdoors.

C-Skateboard

Portability

The basis for the design is the smallest skateboard made by the brand “Penny Skateboards Australia”, as many people already own one. This also makes the whole package compact and robust, so that it is practical to take with you on any domestic excursion, which is becoming more and more popular because of Corona.

Regenerative braking

In Weimar, where most streets are on quite steep hills, the C-Skateboard can conquer these steep gradients due to the transmission of an abundance of power to the front wheel. Plus, the C-Skateboard can recharge the battery when going downhill.

Print instead of buying

Electric skateboards are usually a very expensive purchase. The individual electrical components, however, are relatively inexpensive compared to the price of an entire board. Since the STL files of the printable components are published on the Internet, anyone who wants to can reproduce this design. I provide files that make it easier to edit the design afterwards to adapt it to your own skateboard if needed.

The app

The corresponding app is also intended for controlling the board, but also to make navigation even easier. Here users can see the direction and distance to their entered destination to match the displayed reading with the compass. This information is on the same screen with an ergonomically placed acceleration/brake control, speedometer and battery indicator. All important information can be read at a glance, allowing the user to concentrate on a safe journey.
