Anschluss

In my second semester, the task was to come up with solutions for a better creative work environment with an emphasis on collaboration.

BLYGU – Der klappt einfach.

During our intensive research we interviewed students from the fields of architecture, computer science, fine arts and visual communication. Despite the range of study subjects, the problems mentioned to us regarding the desktops and table frames  were often the same: insufficient of work surface area (especially for group work), not enough legroom, difficulty moving the table, and a lack of stability.

Solving these issues became the requirement for the design for BLYGU, which we combined with the needs for our personal work situation.

With BLYGU adaptability, reliability, stability and simple operation are made possible. Depending on the needs, the work surface area can be reduced or enlarged by just one person through simple mechanisms so that up to four people can work comfortably on one or both table tops across from  eachother or side by side.

The two-sided frame design means legroom is abundant for all BLYGU users.

1) If needed, the work surface can be reduced or enlarged by a single person using simple mechanisms, so that up to four people can work comfortably on one or both table tops across from eachother or side by side.

2) Easy transportation of the table by one person is ensured by the addition of wheels and handles on both short sides of the table. The two handles also serve the function, that the table can be easily carried with two people over obstacles such as stairs.

3) Space consumption can be minimized by the possibility of folding both table surfaces. Then several BLYGU tables can also be stored next to each other to save space.

Stuva – Der smarte stauraum für den Eiermannstuhl.

This product is designed to convert previously unused space under and behind the Eiermann chairs already present in our workspace into an efficient storage option. The compartments allow for easy acess to various work utensils should while not interfering with user’s workflow. It reduces reliance on the other work surfaces to store clutter and optimizes the work process through better organization. Moving around the room with Stuva full of heavy items is not a problem, as the wheels take on all of the weight.

TrashCatch

The idea for Trashcatch came from the observation that trash in the workroom often didn’t make it into our makeshift garbage cans, but instead slowly spread across  tables and floors. There also weren’t not enough options for trash disposal, so they were always full limiting everyone’s motivation to tidy up.

Our goal was to get people to have fun disposing of their trash by rewarding them for successful attempts. Similar to many throwing games, we found users tend to not stop until they’ve hit the target.
